Bild reports that Julian Nagelsmann is considering including FC Bayern goalkeeper Jonas Urbig in his squad for the World Cup.
With Manuel Neuer sidelined by injuries this season, Urbig has received more playing time for Bayern and is set to make his 12th appearance of the campaign against Atalanta in the Champions League.
The Bavarians are preparing Urbig to succeed Neuer upon the veteran's retirement, and the 22-year-old could also play a significant role for the German national team in the future.
Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann is reportedly aware of Urbig's potential and is considering selecting him for the World Cup as a third or fourth-choice goalkeeper.
Urbig has demonstrated at Bayern that he can perform under pressure and accepts a backup role without complaint, according to the report.
In November, Nagelsmann called up Oliver Baumann, Alexander Nübel, Finn Dahmen, and Noah Atubolu as goalkeepers.
