Brighton Leads Race to Sign El Mala as Chelsea Persists in Pursuit

Brighton & Hove Albion are in pole position to sign Said El Mala from 1. FC Köln, while Chelsea remain on alert.

A transfer fee of €35 million plus €4 million in add-ons has reportedly been rejected by Köln, who are holding out for €50 million.

If an agreement cannot be reached, Köln could turn to Chelsea for talks to secure the best possible deal for the young forward, who appears increasingly likely to move to England this summer; Newcastle United are also monitoring the situation.

El Mala said he feels good and could not say what will happen yet, noting there are five games remaining and that confidential talks with the sporting managing director are ongoing; he added that a resolution would be sorted out when the time comes.
