Spurs hit by 95th-minute disaster as relegation rivals deal major blow — Premier League Wrap

Roberto De Zerbi has five games to save Tottenham from relegation after his first home game in charge ended in a 2-2 draw with Brighton.

Tottenham opened the scoring through Pedro Porro but were pegged back by a Kaoru Mitoma strike on the stroke of half-time.

Both teams had chances after the break, but Xavi Simons put the home side back in front in the 77th minute, only for Georginio Rutter to drill home a late equaliser in stoppage time for Brighton.

The result left Spurs 18th in the Premier League, a point from safety, with other relegation-battling teams in action in the coming days.

Thousands of supporters at the stadium waved flags ahead of kick-off, and Tottenham started proceedings with early pressure before Mitoma’s equaliser.

Leeds beat Wolves 3-0 to open up a nine-point cushion in the battle for Premier League survival, with two goals in two first-half minutes from James Justin and Noah Okafor and a late finish from Dominic Calvert-Lewin in stoppage time.

Bournemouth edged Newcastle 2-1 at St James’ Park, piling more pressure on Eddie Howe as Marcus Tavernier and Adrien Truffert struck for the visitors to extend their unbeaten run to 13 matches. Bournemouth rose to eighth, four points off the Champions League places, while Newcastle remained 14th.

Brentford were held to a 0-0 draw by Fulham, leaving both sides with a point apiece.
