Spurs' relegation fears deepen after crucial result as relegation-battle clubs learn their Premier League fate

West Ham earned a goalless draw at Crystal Palace, edging closer to Premier League safety. The result left them two points clear of Tottenham in 18th and sealed Wolves' relegation from the top flight.

Brennan Johnson had Palace’s best chance, unmarked on the edge of the six-yard box from a corner, but headed wide in the 19th minute.

Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson produced a key save on the stroke of half-time to deny Konstantinos Mavropanos’ powerful header, and Maxence Lacroix cleared Taty Castellanos’ overhead kick off the line after a Henderson punch.

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen said the team were frustrated yet satisfied with a point, noting the quality of their opponents and the need to approach remaining games with focus to stay up.

Mateus Fernandes was named the man of the match for West Ham for his tidy display in midfield.

The game’s final moment brought a scare for West Ham as Ismaila Sarr appeared to score late, but play was halted when a handball by Mateta was deemed to have set up the goal, ruling it out.

West Ham manager Nuno Espírito Santo praised the performance, saying the team were compact and balanced in a difficult away setting but that sharper final passes were needed as they prepare for another league fixture at home against Everton.

Wolves were relegated from the Premier League after this result, sitting 16 points behind the 17th-placed team with five games remaining, effectively ending their eight-year top-flight spell.

Tottenham remained in the relegation mix after a 2-2 draw with Brighton, continuing their winless run since December under their new manager. Nottingham Forest and Leeds also won to move clear of the bottom end of the table.

In the Championship, Coventry sealed a return to the top division, claiming promotion to the Premier League next season after a 25-year absence.
