Borussia Dortmund faced significant challenges during their recent 2-3 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, as key players Nico Schlotterbeck, Waldemar Anton, and Emre Can were unavailable due to illness.
In a post-match press conference, Dortmund coach Nuri Sahin provided an update on the three players, indicating they might also miss the upcoming match against Holstein Kiel. "They are all in such bad shape, to be honest. I don't have much hope. ‘Schlotti’, Emre, ‘Waldi’, they're all tough guys. They all wanted to play, but it wasn't possible. We'll have to see," Sahin stated.
The illness has affected a total of 12 team members, including Alexander Meyer and Filippo Mané, who were also excluded from the matchday squad. Almugera Kabar, who made his first start, had experienced illness leading up to the game, which Sahin noted impacted team performance. "Some of the guys who started shouldn't have been there," he remarked.
