Eintracht Frankfurt experienced a setback in their match against Freiburg, concluding the game with a 2-2 draw, which players and management characterized as "two points dropped."
Despite Jonathan Burkardt scoring two goals for Frankfurt, the team conceded a late equalizer from Vincenzo Grifo off a free-kick. Following the match, sporting director Markus Krösche and head coach Dino Toppmöller expressed their thoughts in a press conference.
Toppmöller remarked, "It was an exciting and very competitive game, but without big chances at either end. We made two goals out of a few chances. Freiburg, too. It's a fair draw, even if it feels annoying because of the late goal. Except for the free-kick, we felt we didn’t allow anything in the second half."
Krösche conveyed his disappointment over conceding goals, stating, "Basically, I am disappointed because we conceded two simple goals. We didn't allow anything in the second half, but actually had to go for the third goal. Conceding such a goal is annoying, of course."
Burkardt, who has now scored seven goals in six matches, echoed the sentiment of lost opportunity, saying, "That's 100 % two points lost. More or less, two individual mistakes caused two goals for Freiburg. That's annoying. Otherwise, we controlled the game, stood more compact, and we didn't allow great chances defensively."
He added, “I'm happy with my goals. But, of course, it's a pity we didn't win the game.”
