West Ham United has terminated head coach Graham Potter's contract after a tenure of just nine months, during which the club has struggled in the Premier League, currently positioned 19th.
In a statement, the club cited that "results and performances" since the latter part of the previous season and the beginning of the 2025/26 season have not met expectations, prompting the board to believe that a change is necessary to improve the team's standing in the league as soon as possible.
Potter, aged 50, took charge at the London Stadium in January when the club was in 14th place, finishing the season in the same position. So far this season, West Ham has recorded only three points from their first five Premier League matches and is scheduled to face Everton on Monday.
Upon his appointment, Potter signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, succeeding Julen Lopetegui, who managed only 22 matches before being replaced by the long-serving David Moyes. The club announced that assistant coach Bruno Saltor, along with first team coaches Billy Reid, Narcis Pelach, lead goalkeeper coach Casper Ankergren, and goalkeeper coach Linus Kandolin, have also departed immediately.
The club has initiated the process of finding a new manager and will not be making any further comments at this time.
According to various reports from the UK, Nuno Espirito Santo is expected to be appointed as the new manager of West Ham, just weeks after his dismissal from Nottingham Forest, where he was succeeded by Australian Ange Postecoglou. Nuno is set to lead the team in their next training session and will manage the upcoming match against Everton on Tuesday (AEST).
