Ole Werner Asserts Leipzig Squad Possesses the Right Mindset for Success

RB Leipzig secured a crucial 1-0 victory against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday, with head coach Ole Werner expressing satisfaction with his team's performance and singling out Johan Bakayoko for praise.

Werner noted, "Overall, it was an evenly-matched game and we had to work hard to earn our chances today. There were a lot of chances at both ends. There were several things I was pleased with when we had the ball, but there were some situations where we could have been more precise."

He highlighted Bakayoko's improvement, stating, "Baka[yoko] just keeps getting better and better and is getting used to the speed. He didn't just stand out with his goal, but also in how he won possession. Our points tally is looking good. I think the team has the right mindset, which is what we need. However, there are still areas we need to work on."

Club captain David Raum also shared insights during the post-match discussions, expressing pride in the team's growth since their initial 6-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at the start of the season. "I think we could have scored one or two more goals today. In the end though, it was a gritty 1-0 away win – the kind that feels and does us good. Right now we’ve got that little bit of luck on our side," Raum commented.

He added, "I’m proud of the team. On matchday 1 we were heavily beaten, but we picked ourselves up and have won every game since. There’s a fantastic spirit on and off the pitch. It’s a joy to be captain of this team."
