Ange Reflects on Spurs' Injury Crisis Ahead of Derby Match

Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Brazil forward Richarlison is fit to face Arsenal on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT), while Timo Werner will be unavailable as the Tottenham manager navigates a challenging injury list.

Tottenham currently sits in 12th place in the Premier League and is in urgent need of a victory against their north London rivals after experiencing three defeats and a draw in their last four league matches.

This season has posed significant injury challenges for Postecoglou, with Werner joining several players on the sidelines, including Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Wilson Odobert.

During his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Postecoglou expressed optimism regarding the injury situation, stating, “Hopefully some light at the end of the tunnel in terms of players coming back.” He emphasized the importance of the upcoming match, describing it as a critical moment for the club and its supporters.

Postecoglou, who has yet to secure a victory against Arsenal in three attempts as Spurs manager, acknowledged the intensity of the north London derby and its significance for the team's season.

Arsenal, currently second in the league, is also facing challenges with injuries, as Gabriel Jesus is sidelined due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and Bukayo Saka is a long-term absentee.

When asked about his feelings towards Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta's situation, Postecoglou expressed empathy, recognizing the difficulties injuries pose for any team, regardless of their stature or quality.
