Ljubicic Set to Join Union in January

Germany's "Sport Bild" reports that 1. FC Union Berlin has identified Köln's Dejan Ljubicic as a key target for the January transfer window.

Union Berlin's personnel boss, Horst Heldt, is reportedly interested in bringing the Austrian midfielder back to the Bundesliga, having previously recruited him to 1. FC Köln.

The 28-year-old Ljubicic has demonstrated versatility and effectiveness, contributing five scorer points (two goals and three assists) in ten league appearances this season. He also played a role in helping Köln reach the DFB-Pokal quarterfinals.

Ljubicic has an estimated market value of €5 million, but he faces competition from other clubs with greater financial resources, such as VfL Wolfsburg and Leeds United. However, there remains a possibility that he could be persuaded to join Union Berlin.

Union Berlin is actively seeking attacking reinforcements and has been linked with a potential swap deal involving transfer underperformer Ivan Prtajin.
