Kompany Provides Update on Kane's Injury and Considers Potential Replacements

Vincent Kompany provided an update on Harry Kane's injury during a press conference on Monday, confirming that Kane will "definitely miss a few games" due to a small muscle fiber tear sustained in Bayern Munich's 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund.

Kompany, ahead of the DFB-Pokal match against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday, could not specify a return date for the England captain but expressed optimism that Kane might return before the end of the year. He stated, “There’s a chance he’ll play again this year. He’ll definitely miss a few games.”

Regarding strategies to compensate for Kane's absence, Kompany noted that while replacing Kane's contributions directly is challenging, there are various options available. He mentioned the potential of players such as Thomas Müller, Mathys Tel, Serge Gnabry, Michael Olise, and Leroy Sane to step up in the striker's role, though he indicated that Kingsley Coman might not be utilized in that position.

Kompany acknowledged Kane's impressive scoring record, having netted 20 goals, and emphasized that while his goals cannot be directly replaced, the team has sufficient talent to manage the situation. “We have players who score goals, including Jamal. We’ll have a solution. We have enough players who can fulfill the role, even if you can’t replace his goals one-to-one,” he added.

Bayern Munich is set to face Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday at 20:45 CET.
