Tel Poised for January Loan Departure

Sky Germany is reporting speculation that Bayern Munich may loan out Mathys Tel in January.

Since the appointment of Vincent Kompany as Bayern Munich manager, Tel has played only 179 minutes across six matches. The club is considering a winter loan move to provide the young player with more opportunities on the pitch.

Previous interest in Tel has come from clubs such as Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Bayern's sporting director, Christoph Freund, addressed Tel's situation during a recent press conference, emphasizing the challenges young players face in securing playing time at Bayern. He stated, "It's about momentum. I'm convinced the boys will be ready when they're needed. You need to decide for each individual what's the best next step. There are different ways."

Freund acknowledged the strength of the squad and remarked on Tel's contributions, saying, "Mathys Tel has got his minutes, has done well. But it's different for everyone and is decided on an individual basis."

Tel joined Bayern from Stade Rennes in 2022 for a reported fee of €20 million. Since his arrival, he has scored 16 goals and provided six assists in 75 appearances. In March, he signed a new long-term contract that extends until 2029.
