Eintracht's Appeal for Theate's Red Card Denied

The German Football Association has rejected Eintracht Frankfurt's appeal regarding the red card issued to Arthur Theate during their match against Union Berlin.

Eintracht Frankfurt's manager, Markus Krösche, expressed strong dissatisfaction with the officiating, particularly concerning the decision to issue Theate a second yellow card during the 1-1 Bundesliga draw. Krösche maintained that Theate was fouled prior to the incident that led to his dismissal and emphasized the club's intention to contest the ruling.

Despite the appeal, it has been confirmed that the one-game suspension for Theate will stand, making him ineligible for Eintracht's upcoming Bundesliga match against VfL Bochum.

Stephan Oberholz, chairman of the DFB Sports Court, stated, "This is a factual, generally binding decision. It would only be different in the case of an obvious error, i.e., a decision that is undoubtedly wrong." He added that there were no indications of a misjudgment that could overturn the decision.

Theate will be eligible to participate in Eintracht's match against Gladbach in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday, as the suspension applies solely to Bundesliga matches.
