The Bayern Munich management has stressed that Jamal Musiala’s serious ankle injury from last summer cannot be rehabilitated casually, noting ongoing physical and psychological impacts as the club prepares for an upcoming Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid.
Musiala had a setback about a month ago with adhesions in his ankle after recovering from a severe injury sustained at last year’s Club World Cup, leading to a three-match absence for Bayern and Germany during the March international window. He returned as a substitute in Bayern’s 3-2 win over Freiburg.
Max Eberl, Bayern’s board member for sport, indicated that the injury remains tender and requires careful management, with both physical strain and mental aspects involved. He described the situation as not being one that can be easily rehabilitated.
After contributing off the bench against Freiburg, Musiala could be considered for a role at the Bernabéu if he feels ready, with officials noting his participation in the squad for the upcoming away leg in Madrid would depend on his current condition.
