Borussia Dortmund has confirmed that Julian Brandt will depart the club at the end of the season when his contract expires, as the decision was made after negotiations.
Following Dortmund's 2-1 victory over 1. FC Köln, managing director for sport Lars Ricken said Brandt will leave as a free agent.
Ricken noted that while there were open discussions, the expiring contract will not be extended.
Brandt has appeared 297 times for the club since 2019, scoring 56 goals and delivering 68 assists.
Ricken expressed gratitude for Brandt's seven-year tenure and highlighted that his contributions, including a recent assist, will be remembered as both sides consider new directions ahead of the next steps.
