Stuttgart secured a 3-1 victory over Köln, with Ermedin Demirović scoring the decisive goal for a second consecutive home win after a brace in the match.
In the early stages, Stuttgart pressed hard, with Deniz Undav attempting a quick chip inside the first 70 seconds. A cross from Chris Führich set up Demirović for a first-time finish in the 15th minute, giving Stuttgart the lead. Demirović later missed another first-time opportunity after his goal, as attempts from Jakub Kamiński and Jan Thielmann for Köln offered late chances in a cautious first half.
After the break, Köln created a significant chance when Marius Bülter narrowly missed, and Ragnar Ache tested the keeper with the first on-target effort of the half. Köln continued to push with substitutions, while Stuttgart adjusted by bringing on Bilal El Khannouss for Führich. Demirović netted again in a one-goal lead transition, assisted by a cross from substitute Ramon Hendriks, before Undav sealed the win with a goal in stoppage time, marking his 100th appearance for the club.
The result leaves Stuttgart preparing for an Europa League playoff first leg against Celtic at Celtic Park, followed by a league trip to Heidenheim, ahead of the return at home. Köln heads into a match against Hoffenheim, who are aiming for Champions League qualification, in the next fixture.
