Eintracht Frankfurt is not in a hurry to initiate discussions regarding Mario Götze's future with the club.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the current season, Götze has expressed a desire to potentially remain with Eintracht Frankfurt beyond 2026. However, board member for sport Markus Krösche indicated that a decision on the attacking midfielder’s future is not anticipated in the immediate future.
During a press conference on Monday, Krösche stated, “Mario and I recently sat down for a long talk. He is an extremely important part of our team and played a major role in our success over the past few years. Especially for this young squad, he is a key factor because he can share his experience and show that things don’t always go uphill.”
Krösche further emphasized Götze's impact, noting, “When he’s on the pitch, he can take us to another level. And he’s still fit and still motivated.”
He also mentioned that they agreed to reconvene in the winter to discuss any developments, stating, “At the moment, there’s nothing concrete from us, and nothing from Mario’s side either.”
Götze, who is 33 years old, joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022. His current contract includes an option for a one-year extension that the club can choose to activate.
