38-year-old veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has returned to the training ground following an injury that kept him sidelined for two weeks.
Neuer was seen training at Säbener Straße, participating in relaxed exercises that included the ball, as reported by Bild. The intensity of his training is expected to gradually increase over time.
Neuer's absence was due to a torn muscle fibre in his right calf, which he sustained in the fifty-fourth minute of Bayern's 3-0 victory against Bayer Leverkusen during the Champions League round of sixteen on March 5. He was injured while celebrating a goal by Jamal Musiala and was substituted shortly thereafter, with Jonas Urbig taking his place.
This development comes at a challenging time for FC Bayern as they navigate goalkeeping issues. Urbig has also sustained a foot injury, which will prevent him from participating in the German U21 national team and will keep him out of training for 4-5 days at the club level.
According to reports, Bayern hopes Neuer will be fit for their upcoming match against FC St. Pauli at Allianz Arena on March 29, following the international break. If he is not ready, Daniel Peretz, the third-string goalkeeper, may be called upon to play against St. Pauli. This would mark Peretz's first match since a 5-1 victory over RB Leipzig on December 20, 2024, and his fourth appearance of the season.
Meanwhile, other Bayern players not participating in the international window, including Thomas Müller, Serge Gnabry, and Sven Ulreich, are scheduled to rest until Sunday. Additionally, Sacha Boey (France), Eric Dier (England), and Raphaël Guerreiro (Portugal) are also not representing their countries and will follow a similar training regimen.
