The Sinsheim club is set to travel to Belgium for a match against RSC Anderlecht to conclude the UEFA Europa League league phase on Matchday 8.
Following a 2-2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt, Hoffenheim is focusing on a critical Europa League match this evening. Coach Christian Ilzer has announced his lineup to face the Belgian team, with veteran goalkeeper Oliver Baumann sidelined due to injury, allowing Luca Philipp another opportunity in goal.
Ilzer will implement a three-man defense featuring Arthur Chaves alongside Robin Hanrac and Kevin Akpoguma. In midfield, 20-year-old David Mokwa will play on the right wing, supported by David Jurasek on the left. The central midfield is composed of Tom Bischof, team captain Denis Geiger, and Finn-Ole Becker.
The forward pairing includes Adam Hlozek and Max Moerstedt, both of whom will need to score, along with favorable outcomes from other matches to increase Hoffenheim's chances of qualifying within the top-24.
Anderlecht’s head coach Roel Clement has chosen a 4-3-3 formation, led by captain Yari Verschaeren. The Belgian side includes several former Bundesliga players, such as Ludwig Augustinsson and Thorgan Hazard.
Official lineups are as follows:
Anderlecht (4-3-3): Kikkenborg - Sardella, Dendoncker, Simic, Augustinsson - Verschaeren (c), Rita, De Greel - Amuzu, Vázquez, Hazard.
TSG Hoffenheim (3-5-2): Philipp - Chaves, Hanrac, Akpoguma - Mokwa, Bischof, Geiger (c), Becker - Hlozek, Moerstedt.
