Manuel Neuer expressed remorse and acknowledged an error following his red card during Bayern Munich's 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal.
At 38 years old, Neuer received the first red card of his professional career. The incident occurred in the 17th minute when he left his goal to challenge Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong, who was pursuing a long ball.
In the mixed zone post-match, Neuer stated, "It was decisive for the game. It hurts us and I'm sorry. I've apologized to the team," as reported by Sky Germany.
He further reflected, “I was still hoping for an offside in the situation. I can't change it now. It was a mistake and I have to accept it. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about it.”
