Ange Provides Defiant Assessment of Spurs Revamp Progress Across All Areas

Ange Postecoglou stated on Wednesday that his Tottenham team is “progressing in all aspects of our game” despite a notably inconsistent Premier League campaign to date.

Spurs are currently in seventh place in the table, having achieved six wins, five defeats, and two draws in their first 13 matches, positioning them just three points away from the top four. The team recently secured a significant 4-0 victory against reigning champions Manchester City, following a surprising 2-1 defeat at home to struggling Ipswich.

In light of a 2-2 draw against Roma, where the team conceded a late equaliser, Postecoglou defended his attacking philosophy, emphasizing that he is “not interested” in a more pragmatic approach.

On the eve of the Bournemouth match, Postecoglou expressed optimism about the team's direction, stating, “We’re progressing in all our aspects of our game.” He highlighted the team's goal-scoring ability and noted improvements in defensive consistency compared to the previous year.

He acknowledged the challenges posed by several significant player absences, stating, “The fact that we have got quite a few significant absences is just something we have to work through.” He compared the current situation to a similar scenario from last year, indicating that the team is managing through these difficulties.

Despite his positive outlook, Postecoglou recognized that there is still room for improvement. He referred to specific matches, particularly against Palace (a 1-0 defeat) and Ipswich, where the team's performance fell short of expectations. He remarked, “That’s probably again an area we’ve tried to iron out but aside from that, it’s progress in all areas.”
