RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose is optimistic that Lois Openda and Peter Gulacsi will be fit to compete against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
Neither player participated in RB Leipzig's recent 4-2 victory over St. Pauli in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday.
Openda was sidelined due to an internal ligament issue, which Rose hopes will resolve in time for the Bundesliga match. "He has a little muscular problem. It affected him so much that he wasn't in the squad. Of course, we hope that it will get better from day to day between now and Saturday," Rose stated in a post-match interview.
Goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi was included in the squad despite having been substituted due to injury during Leipzig's 3-1 win over Mainz last weekend. Although he did not play, Maarten Vandevoordt took his place in goal. Rose indicated that Gulacsi is expected to return to the starting line-up against Dortmund. "He would have been able to play today, even though he still has a bit of a problem. That shouldn't be a big problem for Dortmund," Rose commented during his press conference on Tuesday.
