Ahead of tonight's cup fixture against Mainz, Bayern München Sporting Director Max Eberl commented on Vincent Kompany, who assumed the managerial role in the summer.
Eberl expressed satisfaction with the club's progress under the guidance of the former Belgium international. “We have a new coach, new staff. They have rebuilt a lot,” stated Eberl.
He noted, “We play football differently, and four months later, to stand here as table toppers is not so bad.”
Despite Bayern currently leading the Bundesliga, their performance in the Champions League has not met high expectations, following two consecutive losses to Aston Villa and Barcelona. This has led to criticism, which is often associated with the responsibilities of managing Bayern München.
Eberl emphasized that the club remains calm despite these challenges. “We are currently in the process of developing something. No development in the world, no era, began with a snap of the fingers. I believe that on every path, there are setbacks,” he stated.
He added, “One must accept them and learn from them. Now you can make mistakes. After that, when it is crunch time, we can't make those mistakes anymore.”
