Werder Bremen is prepared to offer a long-term contract to Mitchell Weiser, who has yet to appear this season due to a serious injury. The club aims to extend the right-back’s deal before his current contract expires in the summer.
Sports director Clemens Fritz stated that the team acknowledges Weiser’s importance and has signaled to his representatives an intention to extend the contract. Weiser is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament tear suffered in mid-July.
Prior to his injury, the 31-year-old contributed 14 goals and 29 assists in 123 appearances for Werder Bremen.
