Edin Dzeko has reportedly agreed personal terms with a club in the second tier of German football.
The move would represent a breakthrough in the club's bid to sign the veteran striker.
It is claimed the 39-year-old has reached an agreement in principle with the German side, while negotiations with the Italian club that holds his contract through the end of the season continue.
Another Paris-area club has also been linked with a potential move for the forward, who has largely been used as a substitute in Italy this season.
If the German club and the Italian side reach an agreement, the striker would sign a largely performance-based contract.
