Brighton drew 1-1 with Bournemouth at the Amex Stadium after Kostoulas produced a stoppage-time overhead kick to rescue a point, having seen Bournemouth take the lead earlier.
The lead arrived in the 32nd minute when Amine Adli was initially booked for diving, but the VAR official advised the referee to review. The yellow card was overturned and a penalty awarded after contact from Bart Verbruggen’s leg on Adli’s thigh, with Marcus Tavernier converting.
Kostoulas, a 19-year-old Greek striker who joined from Olympiakos in July, equalised with a bicycle kick from 10 yards after a knockdown by Jan Paul van Hecke.
Bournemouth have conceded 12 goals in the last 15 minutes of the second half this season, the most in the Premier League, and Brighton’s late leveller kept them three points clear of Bournemouth in the standings.
