Club chief furious after U-turn leaves young star in tears as Premier League feud escalates over $70 million move

A German club is reportedly furious after the recall of a 20-year-old centre-back who had been on a season-long loan from a London-based club.
The player, Aaron Anselmino, was sent on loan to the German side for the season.

A release clause was triggered to bring him back to the London club well ahead of schedule, leaving the young defender and his hosts unsettled.
A video released by the German club shows Anselmino in tears as he bids farewell to teammates and staff, captioned “An emotional farewell.”

A German publication reported that the German club’s leaders were astonished and furious at the decision, noting a lack of communication and no notice of the move.
The timing leaves the German club with until February 2 to find a replacement for Anselmino, who had appeared in 10 games this season and was viewed as a future star.
The manager had previously praised him, saying he “really does very well when he plays,” adding that he had some bad luck but could be relied on from the first to the last minute, describing him as a great lad and a great defender.

In a separate transfer saga, a Premier League club has emerged with a rival bid for a wantaway striker previously linked with several sides.
His asking price has been set at £40 million, but a rival bid of £35 million has been reported.

The striker has not yet filed a formal transfer request but has been pushing for a move, with his current team sitting near the relegation zone in the league table.
The two clubs are set to play each other soon, adding extra spice to the pursuit and contributing to a developing rivalry between them in the top flight.

As context, the pursuit is part of a broader rivalry that has included a past action by the pursuing club in June to press UEFA to drop a London club from the Europa League to the Conference League, a move that benefited the pursuer by elevating its own European status for this season.
