Schalke Eyes PEC Zwolle's Goalkeeper

Schalke 04 remain interested in Jasper Schendelaar, the 25-year-old goalkeeper from PEC Zwolle, who has long been on the club’s radar.

Schalke are exploring a possible move as the goalkeeper's contract at Zwolle expires in the summer, though a free transfer is unlikely because Zwolle holds an option to extend his deal for another year.

A departure at the end of the 2024-25 season is considered possible after knee and thigh problems limited his campaign, with only two Eredivisie appearances this season — both 2-2 draws against NAC Breda and NEC Nijmegen in October.

Should he join Schalke, he would likely compete with first-choice goalkeeper Loris Karius, though the club could view him as a potential long-term successor as number one.

It remains to be seen whether Schalke will offer a permanent contract to Kevin Müller, who is on loan from 1. FC Heidenheim, when the loan expires.
