Karlsruher SC and Hertha BSC were level at 2-2 in a 2. Bundesliga clash at the BBBank Wildpark, with the visitors twice coming from behind to secure a point in an absorbing draw.
The match opened with Deyo Zeefuik earning a yellow card after clattering into Marvin Wanitzek inside the opening minute. Seven minutes later, Karlsruher SC took the lead as Philipp Förster picked out Fabian Schleusener, who finished low into the bottom corner for his eighth goal of the season.
Hertha levelled in the 20th minute when Kevin Sessa intercepted a loose pass and fed captain Fabian Reese, who advanced into the area and slammed past the goalkeeper Bernat to make it 1-1.
Karlsruhe regained the lead with a corner cleared to Sebastian Jung, who drilled a superb strike into the top-left corner to make it 2-1.
Just before the break, Luca Schuler broke clear and rounded Bernat, but could only shoot wide, leaving Karlsruhe with a slender advantage at half-time. In the second half Hertha dominated possession but found few clear chances as Karlsruhe defended comfortably to protect their lead.
With ten minutes remaining, Reese again carved the through ball for Dudziak, who finished first time low through the defender’s legs to restore parity for the visitors.
There was no late twist aside from an offside maybe in stoppage time as the match finished all square. The result extends Karlsruhe’s unbeaten run to two matches and moves them to eighth in the table, while Hertha register a fourth consecutive draw and sit seventh, one place above their hosts.
