Sunday Preview of 2. Bundesliga: Team Updates and Projected Lineups

The 2. Bundesliga will enter its winter break following three matches scheduled for Sunday.

In the first fixture, Eintracht Braunschweig will host FC Schalke 04. Schalke has secured the top position in the league table after a narrow victory over Nürnberg in matchday 16. Despite scoring fewer goals than the last-placed Dynamo Dresden, Schalke's strong defensive performance has positioned them as favorites for promotion. Braunschweig, on the other hand, has recently improved their form, earning seven points from their last three games after overcoming a four-match losing streak.

Both teams are expected to maintain their lineups as they come into the match without new injuries reported.

Predicted lineups for the match are as follows: Braunschweig will feature Hoffmann ©; Ehlers, Nkoa, Frenkert; Gomez, Aydin, Marie, Bell Bell; Heußer; Yardimci, Conteh. Schalke's lineup includes Karius; Ayhan, Katic, Kurucay; Wallentowitz, El-Faouzi, Schallenberg, Becker; Antwi-Adjei, Karaman ©; Sylla.

The second match will see Preußen Münster face SV 07 Elversberg. Elversberg has achieved narrow victories over Paderborn and Düsseldorf, placing them second in the league with only one matchday remaining before the winter break. They can maintain this position unless they suffer a significant defeat against Münster. The hosts aim to improve their standings with a potential second win in six matches, having recently faced tough opponents.

Both teams are expected to have full squads available, barring long-term injuries.

Predicted lineups for Münster include Schenk; ter Horst, Heuer, Jaeckel, Bolay; Benger; Bouchama, Hendrix ©; Mees; Lokotsch, Batista Meier. Elversberg's lineup features Kristof; Gyamerah, Pinckert ©, Le Joncour, Keidel; Schmahl, Poreba; Petkov, Conté, Zimmerschied; Ebnoutalib.

The final match of the day will be between 1. FC Nürnberg and Hannover 96. Nürnberg, managed by Miroslav Klose, has experienced an inconsistent first half of the season, struggling early on but showing improvement in October. However, they have only managed to secure one point from their last three matches. Hannover has also faced difficulties in recent games but can narrow the gap to the promotion contenders with a victory in Nürnberg.

Nürnberg will be without midfielder Adam Markhiev due to accumulated yellow cards, while Hayate Matsuda and Havard Nielsen are doubtful for Hannover due to illness.

Predicted lineups for Nürnberg are Reichert; Drexler, Gruber ©, Lochoshvili, Yilmaz; Lubach; Becker, Diop; Justvan, Grimaldi, Zoma. Hannover will field Noll; Ghita, Tomiak, Okon; Leopold ©; Matsuda, Aseko Nkili, Neubauer; Yokota, Oudenne; Källman.
