1. FC Köln sporting director Thomas Kessler addressed the growing interest in young attacker Said El Mala, emphasizing the club’s relaxed stance regarding his future.
In a recent appearance on Sport1’s Doppelpass show, Kessler responded to a query regarding whether the club had established a fixed asking price for the 19-year-old, stating that there was “no” set price, and “there is no reason to even discuss it.”
Kessler acknowledged that El Mala’s strong performances this season have drawn attention from “cash-rich clubs.” He noted that if a substantial offer arises, 1. FC Köln would evaluate whether accepting it would be beneficial for reinvesting in the squad.
However, he concluded that, as the situation currently stands, there is no incentive to entertain offers for El Mala. The young player joined 1. FC Köln from Viktoria Köln last summer and is under a “very fair” contract that includes a salary increase, rewarding him for his performances tied to the club's success.
