FC Schalke 04 is reportedly interested in acquiring VfB Stuttgart winger Silas Katompa Mvumpa, as the club aims for promotion to the German topflight.
According to Fußball Transfers, although a deal for the 27-year-old seems unlikely at this time, his contract with Stuttgart is set to expire at the end of the current season. To prevent losing Silas on a free transfer, Stuttgart is looking to extend his contract.
Silas is eager to reestablish himself in the national team for DR Congo, which is still in contention for qualification for the 2026 World Cup. After an injury during his loan at Crvena Zvezda last season, he only regained fitness in October but has not yet been included in the plans of coach Hoeneß.
In addition to Schalke, other Bundesliga clubs, including Werder Bremen and Hamburger SV, have also shown interest in Silas.
Furthermore, Schalke is pursuing Matteo Waem, a central defender from Dutch second division side ADO Den Haag, with reports indicating that contact has already been made. Waem is expected to be available on a free transfer.
