Eintracht Frankfurt's coach expressed his thoughts following the team's home draw against VfL Wolfsburg.
Dino Toppmöller’s squad managed to secure a late equalizer, ending the match at 1-1. The team struggled offensively, particularly in the absence of Jonathan Burkardt, which was noted as a significant factor.
“We wanted to show a reaction to Wednesday's game,” Toppmöller stated, referencing their recent Champions League loss. “In the first few minutes, we did that neatly. We had a lot of action towards Wolfsburg’s box. However, we lacked the last punch to profit from it.”
He continued, “After the break, we remained stable and showed good morale. Wolfsburg defended passionately, and it was only enough to draw 1-1 in the end. Our attitude was really good as we ran much more than the opponent. We shouldn’t forget that we’re missing two players who have scored many goals in Jonny (Burkardt) and Can (Uzun).”
Looking ahead, Frankfurt will face RB Leipzig away from home on matchday 13. A victory in this match would have allowed Frankfurt to potentially overtake the second-placed team in the standings.
