Nottingham Forest has appointed Sean Dyche as their new head coach, following the recent dismissal of Ange Postecoglou.
The former Burnley and Everton manager has signed a contract that will keep him with the club until 2027, becoming the team's third manager this season after Nuno Espirito Santo and Postecoglou.
Postecoglou's tenure lasted only 39 days, cut short after a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea, which marked his eighth game in charge without a win.
Club owner Evangelos Marinakis moved swiftly to secure Dyche as a replacement, having initiated discussions with him during the recent international break. Negotiations intensified after Postecoglou's departure, leading to Dyche's appointment.
Dyche is set to take the helm for Nottingham Forest's upcoming Europa League match against Porto on Thursday, and will be aided by former players Steve Stone and Ian Woan as his assistants.
In their announcement, the club highlighted Dyche's strengths, citing his ability to build teams characterized by defensive organization, resilience, and proficiency in set pieces—qualities they believe align well with their current squad.
Dyche was selected over other candidates, including former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini and Fulham head coach Marco Silva, with the club having engaged in talks with Mancini and deciding against Silva due to financial concerns.
Now back in management after his departure from Everton in January, Dyche has previously overseen 332 Premier League matches and led Burnley to a seventh-place finish, which secured European competition for the team in 2018.
His appointment comes at a crucial time, as Forest aims to stabilize their performance after Postecoglou's brief and troubled reign, which left the club in a precarious position in the league.
Postecoglou's dismissal followed a series of disappointing results, including six losses and a notable defeat to Championship team Swansea in the Carabao Cup. His tenure is now recorded as the shortest for any permanent manager in Premier League history.
With Dyche at the helm, Nottingham Forest hopes to quickly turn around their fortunes, beginning with their upcoming European fixture.
