Postecoglou Confirmed as Ange IN: Set to Coach in Premier League This Weekend

Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as the new coach of Nottingham Forest, as confirmed by the club on Tuesday night (AEST). Owner Evangelos Marinakis expressed confidence in Postecoglou's proven track record of winning trophies and his experience at the highest levels of coaching, stating that he is the right person to help the club achieve its ambitions.

Marinakis emphasized the need for the club to take the right steps to compete at the top level and challenge for trophies after gaining promotion to the Premier League and securing European football. He expressed excitement about Postecoglou joining the team on this ambitious journey.

According to reports, Postecoglou will lead the team during their upcoming match against Arsenal this Saturday (UK time), alongside several members of his former coaching staff from Tottenham. He was seen arriving at Forest headquarters on Tuesday morning, shortly after the dismissal of former coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

During his time away from the Premier League, Postecoglou received interest from clubs including Al Ahli and Brentford, while Bayer Leverkusen also considered him for a coaching position. He previously led Tottenham to a significant victory in the Europa League final against Manchester United earlier this year, but was sacked after the team finished 17th in the Premier League.

Postecoglou will have the opportunity to coach in the Europa League again this season, as Nottingham Forest qualified following Crystal Palace's relegation to the Conference League. The team will face several opponents, including Real Betis, Porto, and Braga, in the league phase.

Currently, Nottingham Forest sits 10th in the Premier League, having earned four points from their first three matches, and finished 7th last season. Marinakis highlighted his close relationship with Postecoglou and noted the coach's pride in his Greek heritage, particularly in light of his success with Tottenham.

Postecoglou is expected to sign an 18-month contract with Nottingham Forest.
