Hoeneß Declares Bayern's Transfer Activity This Summer as a Major Success

Uli Hoeneß appeared as a guest on the 30th anniversary of the German talk show "Sport1-Doppelpass," where he discussed various topics, primarily focusing on Bayern Munich's summer transfer activities.

Hoeneß expressed satisfaction with Bayern's performance in the summer transfer window, stating, "We are very satisfied at FC Bayern. We are the real winners of the summer transfer window. We have a strong team and didn't need to make any major reinforcements." He acknowledged interest in player Florian Wirtz but emphasized that Bayern would not pay the €150 million price tag. Regarding Nick Woltemade, Hoeneß revealed that Bayern offered €55 million, but Stuttgart's asking price of €75 million was not met, leading to Woltemade's transfer to Newcastle for €90 million.

Hoeneß commented on the inflated transfer market, attributing the high fee for Woltemade to financial influences from Saudi Arabia, stating, "He isn't worth €90 million. It only happened because of the money flowing in from Saudi Arabia."

While Bayern missed out on Wirtz and Woltemade, they secured Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. Hoeneß clarified the financial details of the deal, noting that the actual fee paid by Bayern is €13.5 million after contributions from the player and his agent. He also mentioned that a permanent contract for Jackson would only be considered if he starts 40 games, which he deemed unlikely.

Hoeneß addressed concerns regarding squad depth, reminding viewers that there is still a transfer window in January and that Bayern has the financial capacity to strengthen the team. He highlighted the anticipated return of injured players Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and Hiroki Itō as significant additions to the squad.

Hoeneß's appearance on "Sport1-Doppelpass" was consistent with his past discussions, with additional comments on Bayern's club structure and the national team expected in a future article.
