Granit Xhaka's agent has confirmed that the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has reached an agreement with Sunderland.
Xhaka, who previously played for Arsenal, is eager to return to the English Premier League. His agent, José Noguera, stated in an interview with Sky Germany that the 32-year-old has agreed to personal terms with the newly-promoted Premier League side.
“We’ve reached an agreement in principle with Sunderland. Granit wants to return to the Premier League," Noguera said.
Negotiations are now underway between the two clubs to finalize the transfer fee.
“Sunderland excites him – he wants to take on this challenge. We hope Leverkusen will respect his wish to leave and that the clubs will find an agreement soon,” the agent added.
Reports indicate that Bayer Leverkusen may consider a transfer fee of approximately €15 million for Xhaka.
