Paul Wanner Expresses Desire for Increased Playing Time

Paul Wanner played a significant role in helping Heidenheim secure their Bundesliga status, but he acknowledges areas for improvement in his performance.

The 19-year-old midfielder will return to Bayern Munich after a successful loan period at Heidenheim, where he is expected to be loaned out again for the upcoming season.

"I think I've been able to take a lot with me,” Wanner stated regarding his experience at Heidenheim. He provided an assist for Leo Scienza's winning goal against his former club Elversberg, which was crucial for Heidenheim's retention of top-flight football. Despite losing his starting position during the critical phase of the season, he managed to score 10 goals in 41 appearances.

Reflecting on his time at Heidenheim, Wanner remarked, "We've had a lot of ups and downs, but also a lot of games in the Conference League, and you can take a lot with you for the following seasons. And that's why I'm satisfied so far," in an interview with RTL.

However, he also expressed a desire for self-improvement. "I can't say I'm satisfied with my physicality. And, there's always room for improvement in all areas. I would have liked to have played more. But, in the end, the coach always makes the decision, and you have to find as many arguments as possible to play,” he added.
