Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham is anticipated to be determined this week, with reports indicating that his position is "under extreme risk" despite the club's success in winning the Europa League.
According to reports, Brentford’s Thomas Frank is a leading candidate to replace Postecoglou should he be dismissed. Other potential successors include Marco Silva from Fulham and Andoni Iraola from Bournemouth, though the latter is considered less likely to leave his current position.
Additionally, reports suggest that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is still evaluating Postecoglou's future. It was noted that regardless of whether Postecoglou is sacked, Levy is expected to implement significant changes at the club this season, starting with the appointment of new CEO Vinai Venkatesham.
Changes are also anticipated in Tottenham’s medical and sports science departments. This follows Postecoglou's call for an end to the "weird" speculation surrounding his future, as he expressed his commitment to delivering further success for the Europa League winners.
Postecoglou’s team recently faced a 4-1 home defeat against Brighton, a match overshadowed by discussions regarding his job security after he ended Tottenham’s 17-year wait for a major trophy.
Despite the team finishing in 17th place, their worst performance in the top flight since the 1976-77 season, Postecoglou has garnered support from fans, who chanted his name during the Brighton match. However, the final decision rests with Levy.
Postecoglou expressed his confusion over the focus on his future, stating, "I have been finding it really weird talking about my future when we have done something unprecedented." He emphasized his belief that this moment could define the club's trajectory moving forward.
While Postecoglou remains hopeful about elevating Tottenham to a competitive level, he expressed fatigue over the ongoing discussions about his situation. "I shouldn’t be sitting here talking about it," he remarked, indicating his desire to focus on the club's achievements rather than speculation about his future.
