Reports indicate that Juan Giménez, a 19-year-old central defender from Argentine first division club Rosario Central, is a potential target for the team.
Giménez's contract with Rosario Central is set to expire at the end of the year, making him a viable option for a temporary replacement for Schlotterbeck, who is currently sidelined due to a torn meniscus and is not expected to return to team training until September.
According to online portal Fussballeuropa.com, Giménez's market value is estimated to be between €4 to €4.5 million.
However, Borussia Dortmund faces competition for Giménez, as Manchester United is also reportedly interested in the young defender.
In addition to Giménez, Liverpool's Jarell Quansah has garnered interest from Borussia Dortmund, although he is priced significantly higher, with a valuation exceeding €35 million.
