Rolfes Uncertain About Permanent Signing of Mukiele by Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen’s managing director of sport Simon Rolfes has addressed the contract situation regarding full-back Nordi Mukiele and a potential permanent transfer during the summer.

In response to inquiries about Mukiele's future at BayArena, Rolfes expressed caution, stating, “It’s still too early to assess that, but Nordi [Mukiele] has developed very well after a difficult start. He is totally integrated into the team, and he is performing really well.”

Reports indicate that Bayer Leverkusen does not have a purchase option included in Mukiele's loan agreement, making the situation contingent upon the plans of Paris Saint-Germain.

Mukiele, 27, is contracted with PSG until the summer of 2027, a deal negotiated upon his transfer from RB Leipzig for €12 million in 2022. A transfer fee of €15 million has been suggested as acceptable, but the French publication L’Equipe reports that Mukiele's annual salary, excluding bonuses, totals €8.4 million, which Bayer Leverkusen is covering entirely for the current season.
