Neppe has been associated with Bayern since 2014, initially serving as technical director and later as head of the scouting department before his contract was terminated. He has a longstanding relationship with Kimmich, having been instrumental in bringing the then 19-year-old midfielder from RB Leipzig to Bayern in 2015.
