Kompany Offers Update on Harry Kane's Injury Status

Bayern Munich's head coach, Vincent Kompany, provided an update on star striker Harry Kane during a press conference ahead of a busy week for the team. Kane was not seen in team training earlier today, raising concerns about his fitness.

Kane had sustained a knock during the match against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, which prompted fears regarding his availability. Kompany addressed these concerns, stating, "it’s [the injury] is nothing bad. We haven’t had much time for recovery and sometimes you need an extra rest day."

The coach indicated that a decision on Kane's participation would depend on how he feels, but expressed optimism, saying, "I expect it’s nothing serious. There has not been much time for the squad to recover."

A follow-up question from a journalist inquired about Kane's potential to start in the upcoming match. Kompany humorously acknowledged the ambiguity of his previous answer, stating, "I kept blurring the lines in my answer. I basically threw up a smoke bomb [of uncertainty], but I guess we will see tomorrow."

This update is seen as a positive sign as Bayern prepares to face Celtic in the UEFA Champions League play-off second-leg tomorrow, followed by a Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt next Sunday.

In related news, it was reported that Joshua Kimmich left training after only 15 minutes, although he and other teammates who played against Leverkusen participated in a shortened 35-minute session due to workload management. Additionally, Alphonso Davies and Joao Palhinha, who had been sidelined with injuries and illness, respectively, have been cleared to return to team training.
