Dino Toppmöller Expresses Desire for Greater Control

Eintracht Frankfurt’s coach praised his young team for confidently securing a 3-1 victory over Holstein Kiel, while the opposing coach acknowledged that his team deserved to lose.

Despite missing a penalty by Hugo Ekitike and a late goal by Finn Porath that denied goalkeeper Kevin Trapp a clean sheet, Eintracht Frankfurt continued their unbeaten streak in 2025.

However, an incident at Deutsche Bank Park overshadowed the match result, as two individuals were seriously injured and transported to the hospital, while two others suffered minor injuries after a person fell from the middle tier to the lower tier.

Coach Dino Toppmöller expressed concern for the injured fans, stating, “First of all, get well soon to the injured fans. It's depressing to see that.” He commended his young squad for their mature performance, noting, “We sent an extremely young team onto the pitch who played very confidently.” Toppmöller also pointed out areas for improvement, mentioning the goal conceded that allowed Kiel back into the game and emphasizing the need for vigilance until the final whistle.

Kiel’s coach, Marcel Rapp, acknowledged Frankfurt’s dominance but highlighted the timing of the third goal as a pivotal moment in the match. “We played well in the first few minutes. After falling behind, we had the chance to equalize,” he explained. He admitted his team’s shortcomings in defending, stating, “We deserved to lose because we weren't 100 percent, especially in defending the first two goals.”
