Carlos Alcaraz Nets Winning Goal in Everton's Resurgence Amid Thrilling Match

Carlos Alcaraz scoring a match-winning goal in the Premier League was an unexpected event for many in 2025.

This Alcaraz is a 22-year-old Argentine midfielder who recently joined Everton and made a significant impact during his first start for the team. He played a crucial role in extending Everton's unbeaten run to five matches under new manager David Moyes, who previously managed the club from 2002 to 2013.

In the 80th minute, Alcaraz capitalized on a rebound from a shot by Ashley Young, scoring the decisive goal in Everton's 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace. This match followed an opener by Beto, which was equalized by Jean-Phillipe Mateta for the hosts.

Interestingly, Selhurst Park, where the match took place, is located approximately half an hour's drive from Wimbledon, where the tennis player Carlos Alcaraz is a two-time defending champion.

The footballer Alcaraz joined Everton on loan from Brazilian club Flamengo, with an option for a permanent transfer at the end of the season. This marks his second stint in the Premier League, having previously made 42 appearances for Southampton before being loaned to Juventus for ten games last year.

The tennis superstar Carlos Alcaraz humorously acknowledged the footballer's signing on Juventus' Instagram, stating, "I’ll try my best! Thanks for the trust," accompanied by a laughing emoji.

While the tennis champion showcased his football skills in a charity match for Boca Juniors last year, he is expected to continue focusing on his tennis career, leaving the football spotlight to his namesake.
