Bayern Munich Youngster Returns from Injury After 540 Days Out

After 540 days on the sidelines, Tarek Buchmann returned to action last Saturday in a reserve game for Bayern Munich.

The 19-year-old defender played 45 minutes in a 2-1 defeat to FC Schweinfurt 05, marking his first appearance since suffering serious muscle injuries.

Buchmann is a regular member of the first-team squad and trains with Vincent Kompany's side, but he played for the reserves to gain valuable match experience.

Bayern's reserves coach, Holger Seitz, stated, “We wouldn't have done it if we'd had the impression in training that he wasn't ready. It was agreed with the professionals that he would come off after 45 minutes.”

The plan is for Buchmann to gradually increase his workload, with expectations that he could play a full 90 minutes by the end of March or early April, barring any further injuries.

As a German youth international, Buchmann has the potential to become a significant member of the first-team squad, had it not been for the injuries that hindered his development.

The objective now is for him to gain some playing time in the Bundesliga towards the end of the season, assuming Bayern secures the title early.

Reports suggest that Buchmann is likely to sign a contract extension and may go out on loan next season, with 2. Bundesliga clubs Hannover 96 and Fortuna Düsseldorf expressing interest.
