Ange Comments on Manchester City's Downfall Ahead of Impressive Spurs Challenge

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has commented on Manchester City's recent struggles, stating that their decline from an "unprecedented standard" is not surprising following their record achievement of four consecutive English titles.

Postecoglou's team is set to face the struggling champions at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday, aiming for a third victory over City this season.

City's first defeat of the current campaign occurred during Spurs' 2-1 win in the League Cup in October, which initiated a challenging period for the champions, resulting in nine losses out of 12 matches.

Currently, City sits in fourth place in the league, trailing leaders Liverpool by 20 points. Postecoglou acknowledged the difficulties City is experiencing, attributing it to the high standards they have established under manager Pep Guardiola.

He remarked, "It looks like they’re going through a rough trot at the moment but that’s because of the unbelievable standards they have set since Pep has been there." He further emphasized that the consistency and success City has achieved is extraordinary and likely unsustainable over time.

Spurs are currently positioned 12th in the table and will be without defenders Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and Ben Davies for the match against City. Kevin Danso and young player Archie Gray are expected to fill in at the heart of the defense.

Despite missing key players, Spurs managed a convincing 4-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium in November. Postecoglou acknowledged that City would have moments of control during the game, highlighting the importance of Spurs' ability to respond effectively during those times.

He concluded by expressing his excitement about facing Guardiola's teams, stating, "I love coming up against Pep’s teams and am looking forward to it."
