Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is unable to provide a specific timeline for Victor Boniface's return from injury.
During a press conference held on Monday, Alonso expressed optimism that Boniface may be able to return before the end of 2024. However, he noted that it is currently too early to determine when the Nigerian international will be back in action following a thigh injury that has sidelined him for the last three games.
“He's on the right track, but it's too early to say when he'll be back,” Alonso stated prior to Leverkusen's upcoming DFB-Pokal match against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
In the meantime, Leverkusen has benefited from the performance of Patrik Schick, who has scored six goals in his last four matches, including the decisive goal in a recent 2-1 victory over Union Berlin.
Alonso praised Schick's contributions, stating, “He doesn't just score goals. He has done a lot of things very well, including against Union in a very intense game against a tough defence,” highlighting the positive impact Schick has brought to the team.
