Official team news has been released for Bayer Leverkusen, who will host Inter Milan for Matchday 6 of the UEFA Champions League.
With one hour remaining until kick-off, Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xavi Alonso has announced his starting eleven to face Inter Milan, currently positioned third in the Italian domestic league and three points behind leaders Atalanta, with a game in hand.
Leverkusen has had a stable season in Europe's premier competition, despite suffering a significant 4-0 defeat against Liverpool. The team has secured victories over AC Milan, Feyenoord, and RB Salzburg, with their only draw occurring against Stade Brestois of France.
For tonight's match, Leverkusen has made three changes to the lineup that narrowly defeated Bundesliga newcomers St. Pauli 2-1 last Saturday. Matej Kovár, Nordi Mukiele, and Jeremie Frimpong have been included in the starting eleven, while Lukas Hradeck, Arthur, and Aleix Garcia have been omitted. Jonathan Tah will captain the side from the defense.
In midfield, Mukiele will join Granit Xhaka and Exequiel Palacios, with Alejandro Grimaldo positioned on the left flank. Jeremie Frimpong will take on a more attacking role alongside Florian Wirtz, while Nathan Tella continues to lead the attack in the absence of injured strikers Patrik Schick and Victor Boniface.
Inter Milan enters the match following a routine 3-1 victory against Parma last weekend. Head coach Simone Inzaghi has chosen a 3-5-2 formation, featuring former Bundesliga players such as Yann Sommer in goal, midfielder Hakan Çalhanoğlu, and forward Marcus Thuram. Veteran center-back Stefan de Vrij will captain the Nerazzurri.
Official lineups are as follows:
Bayer Leverkusen (3-4-2-1): Kovar - Tapsoba, Tah (c), Hincapié - Mukiele, Palacios, Xhaka, Grimaldo - Frimpong, Wirtz - Tella
Internazionale (3-5-2): Sommer - Bisseck, de Vrij (c), Bastoni - Darmian, Frattesi, Çalhanoğlu, Zielinski, Agusto - Taremi, Thuram
