Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has clarified his choice to position Noussair Mazraoui in the number 10 role during the match against Fenerbahce. The Red Devils played Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday night without Bruno Fernandes, who was serving a suspension. Although Christian Eriksen was initially considered to replace him, Ten Hag surprised many by opting to start Mazraoui in the attacking position. While Mazraoui has primarily played as a right-back throughout his career, Ten Hag noted that the 26-year-old had previously taken on the no.10 role during his time at Ajax. He stated, "I know him from my time at Ajax where I played him there. Even as a full-back, he operates in the half spaces, so he is capable of handling this role." Fernandes was unavailable due to his red card against Porto before the international break but is expected to return for the weekend. United will face West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday, aiming to achieve consecutive victories in the Premier League.
